It Started with a Lucky Find
The exceptional Reynold was born of one of those twists of fate which life often has in store for us. When Pierre DeRoche found a treasure trove of LeCoultre sketches and movements dating back to 1920 in an antique shop, he felt that destiny was tipping him the wink. Had his grandfather Reynold Dubois, a passionate watchmaker, not been trained by the very talented Jacques-David LeCoultre at the start of the 20th century?
Immediately the seeds were sown for a timepiece honouring the memory of his ancestor and the age-old tradition of the great watchmakers in the Joux valley.
A Masterpiece Reinvented
In collaboration with the expert watchmakers at Dubois Dépraz, Pierre DeRoche put his talent to work, respectfully resurrecting extraordinary parts such as the handmade steel gong and combining them with restored or new parts. Decorated, assembled and cased up as tradition dictates, the Reynold took shape, embodying in no fewer than 900 parts the symbiosis of a passion for watchmaking.
The result is a calibre crafted to perfection, with hour, quarter and minute repeaters, a chronograph with 30-minute counter and a perpetual calendar with moon phases.
LIKE NO OTHER…
Unveiled to mark the 10th anniversary of Pierre DeRoche, in its finest details, the Reynold embodies all the great features of the traditional complication: plates and bridges with Geneva stripes, a pearl finish, polished angles, polished screw mouldings, polished angle screws and hand-polished, hand-bevelled softened steel …
The movement is housed in an 18-carat yellow gold case with double back and three-part hinge. The push button is set with an emerald. The movement’s complications are engraved on the back, along with the inscription “Pièce unique”. Like no other, the Reynold embodies the magnificent timelessness of the art of watchmaking.
